Lizzie and Brynn were watching Wizard of OZ with me today to see what Dorothy's dress looks like for a camp costume I'm supposed to have in the works. Out of the clear blue, Liz says, "I don't like that girl's dress." I asked why and her response, "IT'S HIDEOUS!" What does Lizzie know about hideous?
Little Melvie married his true love Elise. It has been 38 years now. We are more happy today than we ever could have imagined.

It's Hideous!

Working Hard vs Hardly Working
Teamwork yaah, teamwork yaah! Dad and Chris are a great team. They have almost finished the porch that was so far from being done last week IN ONE DAY. Dad's pretty sure he can finish on Monday and then take a spin on Chris's (how do you properly show ownership here?) motorcycle for his reward. So I guess there needn't be a sign posted that says SLOW men at work nor Slow children at play, for that matter. Speed demons galore! Way to go boys. We all want to be on your team. Sorry Melissa, that Dad took all the power tools to Utah but don't worry, he thought ahead and also took his helmet. He must be a scout or something.
Almost 1!

Locked door
The bathroom door was locked. Noelle was supposed to be having her shower. All was quiet, no water running. When all was said and done, Noelle admitted that she didn't know that she wasn't supposed to shave her legs. Does anyone remember shaving the big line of skin off the shin bone? It still makes me shudder to even think about it. This should be on Alyson's blog but her camera is being crazy so here's proof and Kirk now has a dull razor.
Amazing Flowers -Amazing Woman!
This is Laura's lap! Actually it is the beautiful spray of flowers made for Sandra's burial services. Amy Jones used flowers from Sandra's back yard and then added a few. Evidence of Sandra's gardening talents. It's not everyone that can provide their own funeral flowers. Very amazing for summer in Arizona. The gardenias smelled so good I forgot for a minute that we were out in the desert.

My Sister Sandra
I need to share some of my feelings about my dear sister Sandra who got to go home to Heavenly Father this morning. I think she is still holding her sweet son Daniel and I am so excited for her to not have to hurt any more, or throw up one more time.
Sandra often said she didn't want to be an example, but she was a shining example of so many things that I admire so I'd just like to name a few. Sandra was an amazing example of Christian giving, loving the Lord, knowing that Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us, testimony of Jesus Christ, positive thinking, endurance, pressing forward, choosing the right, crusading for her causes, bridging generation gaps, promoting music, fine arts and sports, doing hard things and telling about it in a comical way. She was an incredible storyteller and a good philosopher. Her green thumb gardening, oh wow! You can't top it.
I love to think of her as a "wilderness woman." When our kids were younger, she and I would go camping at Strawberry while the husbands worked or whatever. We loved it. We'd fry up potatoes, onions and bacon, eat them and then figure out what to cook next. She was good at making up games, and going on hikes and then talking all night. She always was "high adventure" and anything you did with her seemed to be a great adventure ~ remember Phantom Ranch? She always went to girls camp whether there was a bear scare or not. She was definitely a pioneer, without looking like it.
When I first knew Sandra, I thought she was so beautiful, tall and thin with her dark brown eyes. She was funny and full of spunk but I also thought she was way too young for Reid, she being nine years younger. We teased that someday she would have to feed him soft foods, take him for wheelchair rides and wipe his bum to take care of the old guy. But her maturity level serpassed many much older.
She was much more than this and I know this probably isn't something to post on a blog, but I just want the world to know that Sandra Jones lived an honorable life and left a great legacy to her family and friends who she shared so much love for. We all love her and will miss her. ~Elise
